Ladakh is one of the three provinces in Jammu and Kashmir with its capital at Leh. Situated at an average altitude of more than 3000 m above sea level, Ladakh is India’s highest plateau and most elusive as well. The name Ladakh means ‘land of passes’ and it is located in between Karakoram mountains in north and Himalayas in south. Some even refer to Ladakh as ‘Little Tibet’. Ladakh comprises of two districts, Kargil and the capital of Leh.
